The Grass is Always Greener...in PPCD!

We've almost finished our caterpillar/butterfly scenes!  We've added our suns and clouds and all that's left is grass.  We painted the paper green on Friday and will make snip, snip, snips on Monday to create grass.  We all looked a bit like the Incredible Hulk when we were done, but artists must do what artists must do!  We've continued to LOVE Creation Station and have created amazing things using our pincer muscles to apply small and large objects.  Our Reading Center has been quite the hit this week, too.  Nothing better than a book all about bugs.

Leaves, Trains, and Disco Floors

Every day lately we've been creating trains.  The kiddos do it all by themselves, dragging chairs from all the centers.  Super cool!  We've been building structures and creating what I can only assume is a disco dance floor.  In the art center we've been having a lot of fun with Creation Station and creating sparkly summer leaves for our classroom tree.

Bees, Blocks, and More!

We began creating bees today!  We made them out of oval shapes.  Be sure to look for them on our bulletin boards soon!  The block center was open today and we had a great time creating large structures next to our home center.  We also counted airplanes and ladybugs today.  Such fun!!

Ladybugs!

Today we began creating ladybugs.  They have oval bodies and we used circle-shaped foam painters to create spots with black paint.  We decided we weren't done using the foam painters so we created art with pink and purple spots, too!  We had a lot of fun drawing with magnet boards, too!

Caterpillars and Butterflies

Yesterday we created beautiful butterflies by painting them and then folding them in half.  We mush, mush, mushed them to spread the paint onto both sides.  Our butterflies turned out beautiful and symmetrical!  Today we created caterpillars.  We created patterns with pink and purple ovals.  Be sure to check out our hallway bulletin boards!

Sun and Cloud

Today we created a sun and a big cloud to go over our farm (soon to be farm and insect) bulletin board.  We took turns drawing the curves of the cloud and the points of the sun and then we took turns cutting them out.  We used glue to put cotton balls on the cloud and gold glitter on the sun.  Be sure to check out our awesome bulletin board!!  We also worked in the science center with bugs, green rice, and measuring/scooping tools.

Ovals!

It's April and that means that our shape of the month is the oval and we have two colors of the month this time, pink and purple! 

Today we created bunny ears!  We all cut small white ovals and glued them on big pink ovals.  Then we glued them on a sentence strip.  Tomorrow we'll size them to fit on our heads!  Hop, hop, hop!!  We also glued different size ovals to our big oval collage.  And, be sure to check out the beautiful pink and purple eggs we created yesterday.  They're ovals, too!!
