Snow, Snow, and More Snow!

What a great start to our week!

We've been reading about snow, so I decided we'd do an experiment.
We took a bar of Ivory soap and put it in the microwave for two minutes.

And look what happened!!!

Here we are in the morning working with the snowy concoction we made.
See later photos for details on our process.

In the afternoon we repeated the experiment.
We tore toilet paper into tiny pieces and put them into pans.

We each took pieces of the "exploded" Ivory soap and flaked it into tiny pieces
and added them to the toilet paper.

We worked really diligently on this process.

We added water to the soap and toilet paper and mixed it all together to make "snow".

We created art with the "snow"!  Look for our work to be posted soon!
They're still drying.

We loved our "snow".

If you haven't had a chance to check out our hallway bulletin board, do so.
It is AWESOME!!!

He's at the top, top, top!

Working on the Ocean Life puzzle.
Ocean Life puzzle completed!

To continue our work with snow and winter, we created more snow!
I used a product called Insta Snow.  It expands to 100 times its original size when you add water.

It was so much fun have it grow right in our hands!

It was cold.  It was mushy.

We could make it snow on the table.  We could squeeze it.

A playground rite of passage!!!

Puzzles, Snowballs, the Letter "M", and More!

What a fun week we've had!

We love working on puzzles!

Somehow an airplane bead ended up in our snap block bin.  Hmmmmm...

"I made an airplane."

The letter "M" objects are so  much fun to play with!

Early morning jam session!

Mmmmmmmm...Letter "M"

We had so much fun putting the nuts on the bolts and screws!

Small puzzles are super fun, too!

We cut three circles...a small one, a medium one, and a big one.

We love working with gears!

We glued the circles we cut out together to make snowmen.  Then we decorated them.

Everyone arranged colorful circles on the ground.  We jumped from circle to circle.

We decorated our snow men/women/babies/dogs/cats just like in the book "Snowballs".

More jumping fun!  Action shot!

We worked with small cubes.

We created the letter "M" using four big lines.

We love to read in the reading center!

We collected small sticks outside.  Now they're arms!

Aren't they awesome?

Worms, Creating Brown, Shaving Cream, Ice, the Letter "W", and More!

What a fabulous week this has been!

We love working with magnetic blocks.

"It's a tree!"

Insect puzzle completed!

Magnetic blocks rock!

The worms we measured the other day took a nap in the baby bed.

Ocean Life puzzle completed!

We mixed red, yellow, and blue to make brown for our worms.
We did it just like the rabbit did in the book "White Rabbit Color Book".

We each got a letter's worth of shaving cream and we played with
plastic worms.  We decided the shaving cream was "wet".

The dinosaurs, water, and sand that we put in the freezer froze!
It was too cold to hold very long.

More mixing of colors to make brown.

Stir, stir, stir.

Afternoon shaving cream fun with worms.
We wrote letters and drew shapes in the shaving cream.

We gave ourselves white Santa beards just like in our "White" song!

The next morning all the ice had melted.

Construction Site puzzle completed!

Putting more blocks on the top, top, top.

We created letter "W" art by gluing letter "W" words onto letter "W" paper.

We practiced the letter "W" sound.

We put the blocks on the top, top, top.

We added segments to the worms.  We measured the length across
different parts of the worm.  Then we measured brown yarn to be the right length.
Then we glued the yarn on.  At the end we glued eyes on our worms "just for fun" because
we know that worms don't really have eyes.

Hula-hooping with our Pre-K friends.

We created the letter "W" using three "big lines".
