Last Post of the Year!

Parents,
Thank you so much for all of your support this year!  I've so enjoyed teaching your children and reflecting on our days through this blog.  I wish you all a fabulous summer!!!

Ahoy Mateys, All Aboard!

We had a great time taking booty into our pirate ship today!  Check out what we found and worked with!  The small toys center was filled will all kinds of pirate items and we all had fun building with "ice bergs" and avoiding running in to them.  We had fun with color naming and matching, too!  We also used a big bag today to learn about fast and slow.  Everyone filled it with Duplos and shook it slow, slow, slow, fast, fast, faster, faster...and watched the blocks jump all over the place.  So much fun!!!!

Pirate Treasure Chests and More!

We began working on our pirate treasure chests today.  We used our hands to paint shoe boxes.  Keep an eye on them because we'll be adding sparkles, gems, and more!  We had a lot of fun in our other centers today, too!!!

An Afternoon in PPCD

My mom spent the afternoon with us on Thursday and she took some fabulous photos for our blog of what we do!  Thanks, mom (AKA Jane Steig Parsons, Prints Charming Photography)!!!  There are usually more of us...unfortunately some of our friends were absent this day.

It's so much fun drawing, running and playing on the basketball court.

Walking in line is something we're getting so good at!

We visited the garden.

We had a great time working on our pirate hats with skulls and cross spoons.  High fives for everyone!

We like to practice sign language. Here we are working on the sign for "stop".

Great job paying attention and listening!

It's fun to show our friends the signs we know.  This one means "play".

At the end of every day we choose between two hats, a big one and a little one, and we say, "Ye-haw!"
See the little hat by my foot?

Skulls and Cross Spoons

Today we all cut circles out to make skulls for our pirate hats.  We drew faces on them with crayons, too.  After we glued the face on our hat we added two spoons as bones.  Our skulls and cross spoons rock!

Shaving Cream!

We finished painting the last of our pirate hats black today.  Our art center table was SO covered with black paint that we needed to clean it off.  I had some eager volunteers come to the table, request shaving cream, rub it all over the table, then wipe it off with towels.  Our art center table looks great!  Tomorrow we'll get it all gooey again.  :-)

Pirate Hats

Today we worked on making pirate hats.  We used our hands to paint black all over them, front and back.  We'll be adding skulls and crossbones soon.  We also painted a long tube which will be the mast on our awesome pirate ship!

Be sure to check out the hallway bulletin board!

Aaaaaarrrrgggghhhh!!

We had so much fun in our pirate ship today!  We had it adjacent to the home center and there was a whole lot of eating aboard.  It was a very high energy, conversation rich time!  We also took turns creating sharks for our ocean scene.  Some are already done and hung in the hallway.  Be sure to check them out...don't get too close, they have really sharp teeth!
