Our Fabulous Bulletin Boards!

We've been quite busy! We've created snowmen, talked about small, medium, and large, and position words top, middle, and bottom. We've done a lot of cutting and gluing! Next week we'll be putting together our science fair display board. This week we created icicles out of plastic sheets and silver glitter to be the border on our display board. We worked hard using our pincer fingers for this activity.

Snowflakes, Steam, and the Letter J

Yesterday we created snowflake shapes out of pipe cleaners. Today we heated water in the microwave. It got so hot it made steam, the gaseous form of water. We mixed Borax with the hot water and then placed our snowflakes in the mixture. We'll observe what happens to them.

We also worked on the letter J today. We talked about the shapes that make up the letter J, created it with wood pieces, described it and put it on the carpet with blue tape, and then walked all over it making the letter J sound. We also made Mat Man today using a star (our shape of the month) as his body. The Magic C Bunny watched us work and gave us all high fives for such great work!

Water...solid, liquid, gas experiment

On Thursday we all took turns putting water and small toys into a bin. At the end of the day we put it outside. We made predictions about what would happen to the water when it froze that night (just like in a freezer). Friday morning we brought the bin in and it was full of ice, water's solid state. We observed it melting over an hour or so and noted that it had returned to its liquid state. We also worked with ice cubes in shaving cream. We felt how cold they were and as we played with them they melted in our hands. Next week we'll observe water in its gaseous state. Our science fair project is so much fun!
