Disco Pirate Treasure Chest Fun!
Today we used our fine motor skills to add barnacles (Cheerios) and other decorative items to our pirate treasure chests. They look amazing! And, shiver me timbers, we also discovered that there were some pirates loose on the Disco floor working hard on their dance moves!
This is my last blog posting of the 2009-2010 school year. Thank you so much for your positive feedback! I've really, really enjoyed doing it!

Aaaaaarrrggghhhh!!!
Today we added beads, confetti, and tassels to our amazing sand castles. We also talked about top, middle, and bottom when we glued our "water" at the bottom of our pirate ship. The pirate ship has been so much fun to play in! This afternoon we worked on putting together ocean puzzles ALL BY OURSELVES!!! Yay!

Ahoy, Mateys!!!
It's all ocean all the time these days! We've been working on some amazing sand castles. Because we're also amazing, we've added color and sparkles to them. Tomorrow they'll get even fancier as we continue to work on our fine motor skills. This morning we created water to go at the base of the pirate ship we've been working on. We traced our hands, cut the shapes out, and added blue glitter. Tomorrow we'll glue them onto the bottom of our ship. We also created a flag for our ship! And, summer has finally hit our classroom. Our classroom tree now has big green summer leaves.

Yikes! Sharks in the water!!!
Beware of putting your toes in the water around the PPCD classroom. There's a school of hungry sharks! Today we created those sharks by cutting lots and lots of triangles and following directions to place them in the right spots. We also bid a fond farewell to our two interns, Ms. Leigh and Ms. Barta. We will miss them so much!! There are some very lucky students who will get to have them as their teacher next year!
Thank you, parents, for the wonderful, wonderful potted rosemary! Those are the most amazing, beautiful pots EVER! I can't believe you did all that and we were completely clueless. Thank you, thank you! We love them!

Seaweed and Red Fish
Yesterday we created little red fish by cutting out ovals and triangles and gluing them together. We chose where we wanted them to be on the ocean scene and glued them on. Today we twisted green paper to create seaweed. We added it to the scene as well. Look for it to appear in the hallway! We'll be adding lots more in the days to come!

We have some exciting news. Over the weekend our chrysalis turned into beautiful monarch butterflies. On Monday we released them into the wild. Monday we started a new unit of study on the ocean. We worked with the color blue and created a beautiful ocean painting as a group. We will be working on this painting throughout the week, adding sand, seaweed, and even sea creatures. The new color of the month is blue! We are looking forward to learning all we can about the ocean and sea creatures over then next few weeks! |
